[ Taiwanese Night Markets ]

Card Set

This project was based on a prompt of “a catalog of past influence.” I chose to create a card set featuring foods from Taiwanese night markets, since being half Taiwanese has been a very shaping, influential part of my life. Food has also always been a big part of what brings my family together. I’ve loved going to night markets in Taiwan and trying all different types of food since I was young. This set of cards depicts each food along with a memory or two that I’ve had relating to that food and a family member or close friend with each color being a different person. The magenta is my mom, lime green is my brother, turquoise is for friends, navy for my dad, and burnt orange for my grandma. The design takes inspiration from the many neon signs around these night markets showing the names of each food or stall. The imagery shown on each card is a photo I took myself while visiting one of these night markets.
